Nature Base Solutions IBRAD

Despite several initiatives, tribal communities still suffer from a lower Human Development Index than other populations. The life and livelihood of the tribal coexist with the forest ecosystem. However, the degradation of forests is posing a severe threat to the livelihood and overall wellbeing of the tribal community. The problem is further aggravated in the context of climate change. The degradation of the natural ecosystems also causes erosion of traditional knowledge and practices, genetic diversity, loss of natural resource endowments and wearing down of the traditional social institutions. It has been realised that holistic tribal development cannot be achieved through sectoral or piecemeal development approaches. It requires a process of Integrated Agro Forest Mosaic Landscape Management to strengthen the symbiotic relationship between the tribal and the forest ecosystem to develop climate-resilient sustainable livelihood and improve the overall well-being of the tribal community.
